Direct Curve 5 Brake
[Direct Curve 5 Brake]
$95.00
Direct Curve 5 Brake Direct Curve 5 Direct Curve brake pads High-leverage long-arm brakes have raised the performance standard in mountain biking. The Direct Curve 5 brake addresses the few remaining inefficiencies of the long-arm design. Construction: A key is what is not present: No noodle at the cable's entry point, and no linkages joining the arms and pads, result in braking action with less drag. Smooth, powerful, direct lever-to-brake-to-rim deceleration. The Direct Curve's other breakthrough is its reversible arms, which allow you to set up the most direct cable routing for your bike. All pieces are detachableóif you wanted to run the brakes opposite of the photo here, you could switch the arms and reassemble everything so that the cable enters the taller arm from the right. The pad brackets can also be placed fore or aft of the arms, so you can position the pads in the best spot for braking feel or frame/fork clearance. Further adjustability comes from tunable spring tension and Direct Curve cartridge brake pads that can be set for height and angle. Speaking of the gray pads, they are available as replacements for this and other brakes. (For brake specifications, see below.) Who rides it: Racers and other riders for whom better braking means more speed. Also, riders with challenging cable routing, like on certain dual- suspension bikes.
